Winter Solstice—the event that marks the shortest day in the Northern Hemisphere—has come and gone. Facebook is flooded with pics of kids on outdoor skating rinks and school’s been cancelled several times so far this year due to inclement weather, a common occurrence here in Atlantic Canada.
